Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Lagos Following Deadly Road Accident
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities confirmed on late Wednesday. The fighter was caught in a vehicular crash near Lagos on December 29th, a horrific crash that resulted in the deaths of two of his valued colleagues.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
Joshua had been under observation while healing from his light wounds, his management team confirmed on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement online that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to leave and heal privately.
“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two deceased friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the commissioner stated.
Remembering the Victims
Those who lost their lives were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. The official further stated that the champion was filled with sorrow and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two close friends.”
His release from the hospital comes as the sports world had expressed sympathy for the star in the following the terrible crash.
