A individual charged with harassing Kate McCann apparently deposited her a recorded message which asked: "imagine I am Madeleine?"

Julia Wandelt, 24, who a jury heard has consistently claimed she was the missing Madeleine McCann, and Karen Spragg are facing charges accused with stalking Kate and Gerry McCann between June 2022 and February the current year.

On Monday, Leicester Crown Court was told phone records and evidence retrieved from phones recorded Ms Wandelt consistently requesting Madeleine's mother for a biological test over the past two years.

One voicemail, shared in court, captured Ms Wandelt saying: "I understand I'm overweight and plain like Madeleine had been, but I believe what I believe."

While a separate message of Ms Wandelt's recordings with Mrs McCann's recording stated: "What if there is a slight possibility that I am Madeleine? What then? Isn't that important for you?"

"I don't want money, I have a life here in Poland, I simply desire to discover," the recording stated.

The jury was advised that through emails, mobile messages and communications, Ms Wandelt requested a biological test, sent childhood photos to her phone in a attempt to show a similarity to Mrs McCann's missing daughter, and claimed to have "recollections" from a childhood with the McCanns.

The investigator, a data specialist with law enforcement who collated the data, informed the court there "seemed to lack any answers" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt furthermore communicated with acquaintances of the McCanns, based on the call data.

On that date, the father responded to a communication from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, stating she had "a wrong number."

On that occasion Ms Wandelt deposited a message on Mrs McCann's recording saying "I will persist and I will prove my claim."

The court was informed the co-defendant established a association through digital means with Ms Wandelt before accompanying her on a visit to the McCanns' residence in the county in December 2024.

Communication data demonstrated Mrs Spragg had communicated using communication app to Mrs McCann to express the media had portrayed Ms Wandelt as "emotionally disturbed" but that she should be considered genuine in the months before the trip to that location, Leicestershire, in last December.
